The Phoenix Chamber
Run down the steps and examine the book that is between the two pillars. Doing so reveals a lever. Leave it alone for now, move towards the platform on the left and use the Icarus Wings to reach it. The bones form intp Skeletons. With the Head of Euryale and the Barbarian Hammer, you can make short work of them. You will meet an Elite Legionnaire in the proceeding corridor. Hit him with heavy attacks (Triangle) using the Barbarian Hammer for a relatively quick kill. Continue down the corridor, you will soon reach a room with many large spikes protruding from the floor.

Pull the lever and quickly run over to the pillars on the left. Attack the pillars to destroy them, revealing a couple of Red Orb chests and a Fates Statue. Immediately use the Amulet of the Fates and run back to the lever. Two Elite Legionnaires drop down from above. If you can, try to keep them over the spikes before the Amulet's effect wears off. Knock them back using Athena's Blades and if they are standing over the spikes when they shoot back up, they will be killed instantly. You can open the two Red Orb chests if you wish, although you definitely shouldn't try to open them both in one trip. Also, examine the dead soldier hanging off of the handle on the right to obtain the Hail of Boreas.

Once you are ready, pull the lever and run towards the handle straight ahead. Grab hold of the handle and turn it clockwise, keep your eye on the gate visible to the right, make sure that it is open enough to allow Kratos to fit through. When the ticking in the background becomes more rapid, release the handle and activate the Amulet of the Fates. Run towards the gate on the ride, glide over the gap and move through the gate.

GORGON EYE (32/37): Start down the hallway. When you reach the wall with lava running down it, hug the wall on the right. Jump and grab hold of the ledge that is visible on this wall. While hanging from this ledge, push down on the Left Analog Stick and press the X button to jump over and grab hold of the ledge on the opposite wall. Pull yourself up and go through the ledge. Drop down to the area below to find two Red Orb chests and one chest containing the Gorgon Eye. (If you have found eighteen Gorgon Eyes, these directions will lead you to a Red Orb chest. When opened, this chest will release a large amount of Red Orbs.)

Before you proceed, make sure that your health and magic meters are both completely full by using the two chests at the end of the hallway. Before entering the large room, grab the statue next to the doorway and get behind it. Start pushing it into the large room.

PHOENIX FEATHER (25/30): Push the statue towards the right side of the room. Push it right next to the gate along the right wall. Use the statue to shield yourself from the fire while you open the gate. The enemies will likely interfere, try your best to fight them off. Once you have raised the gate, open the chest to obtain the Phoenix Feather. (If you have found eighteen Phoenix Feathers, these directions will lead you to a Red Orb chest. When opened, this chest will release a large amount of Red Orbs.)

Drag the statue over to the right side of the room. Remain behind it to shield yourself from the damaging flames. Move it around the first set of raised tiles. While you move the statue, an Elite Legionnaire and a couple of Harpies attack. Kill the Harpies with the Head of Euryale, they will fall to the ground and shatter when you petrify them. The Harpies continuously respawn, but by killing them you can get them off of your back for a short while. A fully upgraded Head of Euyrale would be great for this part, but it's not entirely necessary. You can petrify and shatter the Elite Legionnaires too, but it requires a bit more from your magic meter.

Drag the statue around the set of raised tiles in the middle of the room and place it in front of the tile with the lever on it. With the statue shielding you, pull the lever to lower the raised tiles up ahead. When you push the statue over the lowered tiles, two Elite Legionnaires spawn. Use the Head of Euryale to turn them to stone and shatter them with the Barbarian Hammer. If your magic meter is empty, remain behind the statue and fight them off with the Barbarian Hammer. Once the Elite Legionnaires have been deal with, push the statue onto the left button. Wait until flames run through the room, then move over and stand on the right button. A grapple point lowers from the ceiling right in front of you. Press the R1 button to swing onto the ledge ahead to avoid the next row of flames.

Move the urn and stand on the button in the middle of the lift. When the lift reaches the bottom, push the urn into the hole. Move towards the lever to spawn some Skeletons and Minotaur. Kill all of the Minotaur and Skeleton that spawn to remove the barrier. Throw the lever near the lava pit. The arm above the urn carriers it over to the lava pit and lowers it in. After the cutscene, glide over to the save altar and use the steam reach the stairs up above.

PHOENIX FEATHER (26/30): At the top of the stairs, continue moving left. The chest that contains the Phoenix Feather is in the corner. (If you have found eighteen Phoenix Feathers, these directions will lead you to a Red Orb chest. When opened, this chest will release a large amount of Red Orbs.)

At the top of the stairs, jump onto the lift and pull the lever to ride it up. Once the lift has reached the top, turn around and use the Hail of Boreas to open the door.

GORGON EYE (33/37): Once the door has been opened, start down the hallway and follow it all the way to the left, past the hanging chain, to find the chest in front of some pillars. (If you have found eighteen Gorgon Eyes, these directions will lead you to a Red Orb chest. When opened, this chest will release a large amount of Red Orbs.)

Head down the hallway and climb up the hanging chain that you come to. Use the save altar up ahead to save your progress. Step outside and press R1 to blow the horn, releasing the Phoenix from its binding. Drop back down to the area below and jump onto the column base on the right. From there, glide over to the higher column base on the left. Next, glide over to the platform to the left. Open the door and move through the doorway.

Pull the lever that is along the wall in the middle of this room to raise the lift on the left. Use the climbable part of the raised lift to reach the ceiling. Sling across the ceiling and destroy the two shining chains to lower the two gates below. With that done, drop back down to the floor and drag the pillar that was blocked by the gate on the right towards the lift. Pull the lever to lower the lift once more. You will have to fight two Fiends when the lift reaches the bottom. Use the Head of Euryale to turn them to stone and then shatter them or continuously grab them until Kratos performs the fatality. Push pillar just beyond the lift's threshold and pull the lever again.

If the pillar was placed correctly, it will cause the lift to jam. Jump up onto the lift and pull the pillar all the way onto the lift. Once the lift reaches the top, place the pillar in front of the closed gate. Get onto the pillar and destroy the chain holding the gate up to lower it. Grab hold of the handle in the cage and turn it to raise the columns down below. When the handle can't be turned anymore, proceed through the doorway on the right and follow this corridor to another handle. Turn the handle until the doorway behind it is un-gated. With that condition met, proceed through the doorway.

You will meet and have to battle a mysterious person before you can proceed. All of his attacks can be blocked and he deals very little damage, so any one of your weapons can be used to defeat him. When the Circle appears over his head, press the Circle button. Doing so triggers a short cutscene.

BOSS BATTLE: Kraken
There is nothing you can do to damage the Kraken during the first part of this battle. The buttons you press just cause Kratos to yell out something. The Kraken soon grabs Kratos with its tentacle and attempts to crush him. Kratos will receive a Rage of the Titan upgrade after the cutscene. The Kraken's move set consists of spitting acid which will push you back in the process, and thrashing you with its tentacles. All of its attacks deal little damage, but try your best to dodge its tentacles before they come crashing down on you.

Kraken

Press the L3 and R3 buttons at the same time to activate the Rage of the Titans. Doing so will cause the Kraken to release Kratos. Press the L3 and R3 buttons again to preserve the Rage of the Titans meter. Attack the tentacle wrapped around the column on the left until the Kraken retracts it. At this point, carry the dead man in the middle of the area and place him on the button that was being covered by the Kraken's tentacle. Use the steam from the vent in the middle of the area to launch yourself towards the Kraken's head wound. While falling back down, use Cyclone of Chaos (L1 + Square) with Athena's Blades to deal damage. Continue to do this until the Kraken thrusts its tentacle into the vent.

At this point, approach the tentacle and move around to the front of it. Climb up to the top of the tentacle to reach a cap. Attack the cap until it breaks off. With the cap broken off, press the Circle button and Kratos will sever that tentacle. The Kraken retracts its damaged tentacle and pushes the man off of the button. Do the same thing to the Kraken in order to sever its left tentacle. Once you have attacked its head wound, the Kraken jams its left tentacle into the wall. Move to the end of the tentacle and jump up to grab hold of it. Sling across to the cap and attack it until it breaks off. Press the Circle button to sever the tentacle.

Now is the time to empty that Rage of the Titans meter. Activate the Rage of the Titans and attack one of the Kraken's wrapped tentacles. When the Kraken retracts that tentacle, quickly move on to the other and attack that one. The Kraken slumps down from the platform, holding onto the pillars with its tentacles. Pull the lever that is in front of the Kraken. The lever extends the bridge to the phoenix's platform, effectively mashing the dangling Kraken in the process.

After the battle, walk across the bridge and over the crushed Kraken to reach the platform.

GORGON EYE (34/37): Once you reach the Phoenix's platform, open the chest on the right. (If you have found eighteen Gorgon Eyes, these directions will lead you to a Red Orb chest. When opened, this chest will release a large amount of Red Orbs.)
