The basic premise of this mode is to steal the enemy cargo while protecting your own.
This mode supports up to a max of 12 players, and it is one of the modes that does have strategic edges to it. They just may not be the sort you would first think of.
In any other combat game this would be the equivalent of Capture the Flag - only it is a slightly modified version in that it has the following core objectives:
So from the above you now know that your primary objectives are to take cargo from the opposing team and bring it back to your cargo holding area; once you have a total of 10 pieces of cargo in your base, you win the match. You also need to protect your cargo from the enemy since conversely if they manage to get 10 of your cargo to their holding area, you lose the match.
The key to victory for this mode is to employ a smarter defensive strategy by designating some team members to capture cargo and others to defend cargo.
Rapid access to the enemy cargo means taking advantage of the edges of the map rather than trying to go straight through - since the enemy almost always groups its defenses in the middle.
This is just the sort of situation in which having a partner is a major benefit since, in addition to covering each other you also have a second set of eyes in your area to spot targets of opportunity when you are on the defensive.
This is a mode in which limited camping is actually helpful - though bear in mind that trying to set up a permanent camp is an invitation to get ganked.
Bear in mind that there is only so much cargo to capture or have captured - which sets an artificial limit for the match. That can be a bad thing, or a good thing, depending on how effective your team is.
