Hero Hunt - the best kind of hunting.
Hero Hunt - the best kind of hunting.

Play as a single hero against a squad of enemies. Heroes are available for this mode. This mode supports up to a max of 8 players.

Every game in this genre has its own special take - a mode that defines THAT game - and in the case of Star Wars: Battlefront that mode is Hero Hunt. Why? Well mostly the why is down to the fact that it is unique to SWB - and of course there is the fact that you get to play as a Hero if you play the game right.

What we mean by that is, just like with the Highlander, there can Be Only One (at a time that is) while everybody else plays as a Stormtrooper whose primary goal is to go after the Hero.

The Core Objectives for this Mode are:

  • Score as many kills as possible while controlling the hero.

  • As a Stormtrooper, kill the Hero to become the Hero.

  • The player with the most kills wins.

One player starts as the Hero, and all the other players work to kill them. The player that kills the Hero then becomes the Hero, and everyone works to kill them - and on it goes. The other side of the coin is, of course, the Hero - whose job it is to kill as many of the Stormtroopers as possible.

The thing is, the Hero actually has something of an edge, and that edge gets bigger depending on the Hero you get to play. For example, Han Solo is probably the best, because he (a) can do very well at a distance, and (b) gets a special bonus for his blaster pistol.

Hunting Heroes - It's what you do!

This mode is one of the ones that most players only play until they get a win in - for the Achievement that is related to it - and then move on to other modes that are a bit more fun and less obvious. That noted though, if this turns out to be a mode you like a lot and so want to play - or choose to play - then you may find the following tip useful:

When playing this for serious you will find that battling the hero works best when you do it as a pack. And when we say pack, we mean as a wolfpack - with the Stormtroopers sort of bunching together to be able to bring lots of heat to bear quickly.

When the game is played as a bunch of individuals rather than as a cohesive group targeting the hero, it can really drag on - but when it is played with pack mentality it can be very very fast.
