Your number one priority for making sure you survive on Aeternum Island is getting your hands on some decent weapons. In total, there are 10 different types of weapons available, and you are not restricted to any of them. You can choose up to three weapon skills, which will become available to you when you equip the weapon. As you use a weapon, you gain mastery points in it, which you use to unlock skills and buffs in either of the weapon's two talent trees. The weapon types available in New World are Sword, Hatchet, Rapier, Spear, Great Axe, Musket, War Hammer, Bow, Ice Gauntlet, and Fire Staff. This Weapon Tier List will help you to determine the best weapons in the game, it is important to take into consideration that some weapons will be naturally better suited for situations than others.

S-Tier Weapons:

- Life Staff

A-Tier Weapons:

- Rapier

- Ice Gauntlet

B-Tier Weapons:

Best Overall Weapon

- Life Staff

The best weapon arguably in New World overall with all things considered is in our opinion is the Life Staff. It is the only weapon in the game that provides healing, which is invaluable in any type of combat. The Life Staff is not particularly good in PvP duels due to it not being the most damaging of the weapons available, but it can make up for this deficiency by being specced into Focus, so you slot your secondary weapon with a gem that converts a percentage of its damage into nature damage. The best abilities you can invest in for the Life Staff are Divine Embrace, Orb of Protection, and Beacon. The Life Staff is particularly effective when paired with heavy armor, and a Hatchet.
