How to Buy a House to Unlock Fast Travel and get Bonuses

One of the features available in New World is the ability to buy property all over Aeternum's settlements. There are plenty of reasons to purchase a house in New World, this How to Buy a House to Unlock Fast Travel and get Bonuses guide will tell you everything you need to know.

In order to purchase property for your character in New World you must first reach Level 10 Standing in the Territory you want to own a house in. The first house you will be able to buy will be a wooden shack, you will not be able to purchase the more luxurious dwellings until you have reached the higher levels. Listed below are the different tiers of housing and their cost.

Tier 1:

5000 Gold (2500 Gold if first purchase)

Tier 2:

10.000 Gold (5000 Gold if first purchase)

Tier 3:

15,000 Gold (7500 Gold if first purchase)

Tier 4:

20,000 Gold (10,000 Gold if first purchase)

When you purchase a house in a settlement, you will have access to a fast travel feature which will enable you to easily teleport back to the settlement you reside in. The tier of house you purchase determines the speed of your Home teleport cooldown button. Tier 1 starts off at 4 hours teleport cooldown, with tier 2 at 3 hours, tier 3 at 2.5 and tier 4 at 2 hours. Also, the higher the house tier, the more lights, pets, decorations and storage you can have. Buying a house will save you a lot of money when you consider how expensive fast traveling costs are in New World when you have a lot of items on you. Although there are inns in each town you can check into that allow you to 'return' to them at any point to collect your items, this option has a very long cooldown.

Providing you have the prerequisites needed to purchase a house, you can buy it by simply walking up to it. You are however given the option of walking into the actual house and having a look around before you commit to the purchase. If you don't have the required amount of gold, you can increase your funds by completing the special quests you can undertake at a Trading Post. This is a wooden board in every major town that is covered in fliers with jobs you can perform to earn Experience Points, Territory Standing, and money.

Once you have purchased a house, you will be able to use it to stash anything you want to keep but don't need to carry around with you. When you decorate your home with Trophies, you will apply certain passive buffs to your character. Unlocking the Furnishing Skill will give you access to more decor choices which aside from being aesthetic can unlock more bonuses, which makes them worthwhile investing in. Your home will be awarded points based on your decorations and the rarity of the items you place, which will place you on a leaderboard. The player who is at the top of that leaderboard will have their house appear to all other players in that particular town.

You will need to pay property taxes on a real-time weekly basis for the home(s) you own. The amount you have to pay is determined by the Territory's Governor, the default is 10% of each house's initial price value. The Governor however can adjust the rates to anywhere between 5% and 20% and give you the following discounts.

- The 50% discount for first time buyers also reduces the taxes on that property by the same amount.

- Ranking up your Standing within the Settlement can unlock Property Tax Reduction cards.

- If your Company governs the Settlement, you will receive a 30% tax discount.
