Fishing in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is an acitivity where Goku uses his tail or bait to catch specific types of fish to complete certain side quests. Check out our Fishing Guide to find out everythng you need to know.
To unlock the fishing activity you must first complete the 'Slice of Life' side mission, doing so will give you the ability to fish anytime you want. Fishing takes place near any water body shown on the map, which will also indicate which types of fish you will find there. You fish by standing on the marked spot and put Goku's tail inside the water. To catch the fish you have to wait for the right moment to wiggle his tail. You can entice rarer fish to where you are by using baits which you can purchase from traders, get as rewards from quests, or by exploring the world.
If you are trying to catch a specific type of fish you will need to wait until the right momemnt before you wiggle Goku's tail to ensure you catch it. This will be when it is the one either closest to the tail, or when it is the only one facing your tail. Once the fish is hooked you press the button when the pointer is in the highlighted area so it is launched out of the water and then press the button again at the right moment to ensure you have caught it. If you press the button before the pointer is inside the highlighted area you will still catch the fish but your grade will be lowered and your rewards will be reduced. Waiting too long will cause the fish to flee. The fish you catch can either be used as items in your cooking recipes to boost stats or their scales can be sold for Zeni so you can buy useful items.
