Toughest Battles In Pokemon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon

Hau Pokemon League Championship Battle

Way back when (but not really so) in Pokemon Sun & Moon, Hau, your main rival and friend, wasn’t all too much of a threat as far as battle was concerned. Nothing against this great companion of yours, but he just never had the it factor when in battle. This is primarily due to the fact that he starts with a disadvantage at the beginning game, always choosing the Starter Pokemon that is weak to the one you chose. It was clear the Pokemon Company did this to give players, primarily younger ones, an easy opponent to defeat throughout their travels within The Alola Region. However, by doing this very thing, they basically crippled Hau from ever becoming a great trainer from word go. And the sad part is, for most of Pokemon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, Hau remains the exact same.

However, something is different this time around with Hau. After not being able to stop Team Skull from taking Lillie back to her mother in Aether Paradise, as well as after Lusamine and Guzma enter Ultra Space to defeat Necrozma on their own, Hau once again pledges to get stronger in order to one day match your trainer’s skills. Back in Sun & Moon, you didn’t see Hau again until directly before the Pokemon League. But in Pokemon Ultra Sun & Ultra Moon, you will actually get a glimpse at how hard Hau working in order to keep his promise during Captain Mina’s Trial. Not only has defeated Kahuna Nanu and is moving forward with defeating Kahuna Hapu in order to finish his Island Challenge, he actually has become strong enough to defeat his grandfather, Kahuna Hala, in an all-out battle of strength.

After Captain Mina’s Trial, you won’t see Hau until after you have defeated Elite Four, when the two of you will battle to be the first Champion of The Alola Region. He might still have the disadvantage where his Starter Pokemon is concerned, but he’s made up for it and more by having an Eeveelution to properly counter your Starter Pokemon AND a Z Crystal attached to his own Starter Pokemon. Combine this also having Pokemon like Alolan Raichu, Tauros, Crabominable, and Noivern, and you have the toughest opponent before the Post Game.
