Top 10 Starter Pokemon
#6 - Treecko
Up next is Treecko, the first Pokemon of the third generation. Treecko is the second highest ranked Grass-Type Pokemon on this list (so you know which one is still to come), and this is probably the best spot for it. I wish I could rank it higher, but I really don't think anyone ranked higher deserves to lose their spot to do so. So Treecko, you stuck here. Not too bad for this cool guy.
Treecko, on popularity alone, has always been highly sought after. It was the only Hoenn Starter Pokemon Ash Ketchum somehow obtained, which was a new thing for the Anime Series (Ash had obtained all previous six Starter Pokemon - Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Chikorita, Cyndaquil, Totodile). It also was given that cool guy attitude and look, which made it even more popular. It's design was key, being better looking than Mudkip and just a good looking as Torchic.
Treecko was an okay choice, when it comes to traveling through the Hoenn Region. It had a favorable match up with about half of the Gym Leaders and Elite Four in Pokemon Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald, and even Pokemon OmegaRuby and Alpha Sapphire. That's not too bad, but it didn't compare to Mudkip. However, that type of stuff doesn't really matter with experienced Pokemon Gamers.
As for Treecko's final evolution and its place in competitive play... It's okay. It doesn't compare with Blaziken, since it's one of the best sweepers around; it really is about even with Swampert.But that's not all!!! We can't forget about it's Mega Evolution. Mega Sceptile is a really good Pokemon, being the only Grass-Dragon Type in all of Pokemon. Mega Sceptile made Pokemon Gamers think twice when choosing their Starter in the newer remakes, since it has such an awesome design and typing. Pretty cool, if you ask me. Which is what Treecko has been: Cool.
Tepig? Snivy? Really? Oshawott is the only good Unova starter (the best starter in any region, in fact) and it DIDN'T MAKE THE CUT?!! This crap is biased garbage.
sceptile has such an amazing move pool it can learn dragon pulse , dragon claw , wild charge etc which is the best pkmn i have at lvl 93 (pkmn alpha sapphire)
how about turtwig? torterra knows wood hammer and earthquake.

-cute? meh...i guess a little bit....
-powerful? i guess it can hit hard when mega evolved... regular version doesn't do that much.
-rocks? yup. that's basic instakill. a ROCK THROW from a trained GEODUDE can one-hit it.
-end result? overrated.
charmander is over ranked because pikachu is the most popular pokemon of all time and always will be no matter what
Charmander? If you're going off design, unfortunately, it doesn't really compare to all of the others. It's an orange lizard with fire on it's tail, Chimchar also has fire, but he's ranked lower. Another fact is, it doesn't matter whether or not what rock type move it is, Charizard is still going to be hurt no matter what, stealth rock or rock tomb. Granted, there is the nostalgia that we feel from it, but we have to move past it. Also, you can't exclude pokemon without making a fair judgement or making people bitter. If it's design of the base, I believe it should be Treecko, if it's stats, it goes to Blaziken for not only having great offensive capabilities, coupled with it's great speed, but it also has a Mega Evolution, just because Charizard has two doesn't make him special it just gives you varieties.

I think Torchic's design is DARN Cute. Piplup is a good choice though, because Empoleon is the most resistant starter. Charmander didn't deserve to be the top. I also think Squirtle is the best Kanto starter because it overpowers every type-disadvantaged gym becuase of its Ice-types moves, which even beats out grass types. Only electric types beat it.

Charmander is defiantly deserving of the top spot. He's in my opinion the cutest, his design is epic, and he should obviously be in Pikachu's place right now for Gamefreak's mascot. Charizard has two Mega evolutions and is never late for Smash Bros. I'm glad to see someone else agrees.
Charmander evolution line is so overrated... I enjoy beating dozens of mega zards with my garchomp online jeez it's so annoyin'

Chimchar is always my favourite starter Pokemon it's just the cutest and strongest.
Quilava and Dewott are my pick, they may not be the best out all of em, but i still love those two.

My fave is Quilava. I just think he's the coolest looking evolution form out of them all. Then the Squirtle family, the Charmander family and the Bulbasaur but i'm old school gen 1 ;).
Turtwig should've been on that list instead of chimchar, in my opinion. It has an excellent type match up once it's Torterra, and is a pretty good tank as well.
