How to Sneak

One of the most important things you need to be able to do competently in Plague Tale: Innocence is sneak. It is important that you remember that Amicia is only a teenage girl with no supernatural powers so she needs to avoid opponents whenever possible. You will not be able to go through the entire game relying on stealth but if you know how to sneak it will make getting past some stages considerably easier.

Movement Noise

Unless you have the first upgrade of Attirail you will make a noise when you move. Basically the faster you move the more noise you will make, too much noise means you will make opponents aware of your presence. If you alert an opponent of your presence a red bar will appear above their head indicating they have been alerted and will fill red when they move in your direction. If the red bar completely fills you will be exposed and attacked. You can avoid direct eye contact with opponents by crouching.

Hide Behind Cover

Knowing how to stay out of the line of sight of opponents is important. To avoid being spotted by patrolling guards you need to use elements of the environment as cover. Anything from fences to carts can be used to hide behind, all that matters is that the enemies don't see you.

Diverting Attention

During the game there will be instances where there will be guards positioned in such a way that your way is blocked. When this happens you will need to somehow distract them using the surrounding elements of the environment, this can be anything from setting fire to a hearth to throwing an object like a stone. If you decide to thow an object you will learn which guard will be distracted when you aim and an arrow will indicate the landing site and the direction from which the guard will arrive. Your objective is to distract the guards and move them to the spot where the diversion is so you can get past them.
