How to Craft

Knowing how to craft in A Plague Tale: Innocence is essential as you will need to craft ammunition and upgrade your gear if you hope to survive. You will not be able to craft anything until the end of Chapter 2: Strangers when you find an old lady that will help Amicia and Hugo. Once you have changed clothes at her house the Workbench will become unlocked and you will be able to use it to upgrade your weapons and inventory so you are able to carry more items.

To first use the Workbench you need to collect tools from the left of the workbench and then go outside the house to the backyard and look for some Leather which will be on your left near the window. When you then return to the workbench with the Leather the 'Upgrade' menu will be unlocked and you will be able to repair the Sling using better material so you enhance its strength and upgrade it so you improve the weapons ability to get a powerful headshot. To interact with the Workbench you need to hold X so you bring up a menu that has the Sling and on the right side different options you can choose such as rock, sand, etc. The Sling section allows three level upgrades where Amicia will get better grips and lethal headshots.

Once you have upgraded the Sling more items will unlock, these include the Pouch, Pocket, Ammunition Bag and Attirail. The pouch section will fix the accuracy of Sling. The pocket upgrade will increase the capacity to carry more items, like the first upgrade for instance will increase your rock carrying capacity from 6 to 12 and will double with each subsequent upgrade. The ammunition bag upgrade will increase the capacity to hold up to 10 ammunition of each type. The menu has two sections Sling and Equipment and with the correct materials you can upgrade each to deal with stronger enemies ahead. It is advised that you focus on Upgrading the Sling first. As long as you have a Workbench you will be able to access the 'Crafting' menu by pressing the Touchpad.
