Best Skill Upgrade Guide

To survive the swarms of disease-ridden rats and escape the Inquisition in A Plague Tale: Innocence you will need to take advantage of the game's skill tree which is based entirely around crafting survival tools. As you progress through the story the game will slowly reveal the skill tree. Our Best Skill Upgrade Guide will help you decide what skills to invest in.

In total there by the end of the game there will be seven different areas of Amicia's skills that can be upgraded. Each of these skills is split into three areas giving a total of 21 individual skills overall that can be upgraded. The different skills are listed below.

Sling

Strings

1st Upgrade: Hitting enemies in the head kills them instantly.

2nd Upgrade: Reduces initial load time for Amicia's sling.

3rd upgrade: The sling no longer makes any noise

Pouch

1st Upgrade: Reduces the time it takes to achieve maximum accuracy.

2nd Upgrade: Reduces reloading time.

3rd Upgrade: Allows two consecutive shots without priming and reloading.

Equipment

Pocket

1st Upgrade: Holds up to 12 materials of each type.

2nd Upgrade: Holds up to 16 materials of each type.

3rd Upgrade: Holds up to 22 materials of each type.

Ammunition Bag

1st Upgrade: Holds up to 10 ammunition of each type.

2nd Upgrade: Holds up to 14 ammunition of each type.

3rd Upgrade: Holds up to 22 ammunition of each type.

Attirail

1st Upgrade: Running and dodging make less noise

2nd Upgrade: Amicia no longer needs a workbench to upgrade her gear.

3rd Upgrade: Amicia no longer needs tools to upgrade her gear.

Alchemy

Containers

1st Upgrade: Increases the duration of effect of Odoris and Luminosa.

2nd Upgrade: Allows Luminosa to be thrown with a sling.

3rd Upgrade: Allows Somnum to be thrown.

Instruments

1st Upgrade: Ignifier ammo distracts enemies.

2nd Upgrade: Improves the speed of ammo crafting.

3rd Upgrade: Shooting a stone with a sling removes the target's helmet.

Best Skill Ugprades

Not all of the skills on offer are equal, some are a lot more useful than others which means you will not want to spend the materials you collected on those that are not worth the effort. Below are the skills we feel are the best ones to invest in, keep in mind though that there will be instances where you will need to unlock a preceding upgrade to unlock a subsequent upgrade in the same area.

1st Upgrade: Pocket and Ammunition Capacities

Make upgrading your ammunition and material carrying capabilities the first skills you invest in as there is nothig more frustrating when you scavenge than coming across more materials than you can carry and painfully realising you have to leave behind what you cannot carry.

2nd Upgrade: Attirail

The first upgrade of Attirail is extremely useful as allows Amicia to become quieter in the shadows which is essential for her to sneak past guards without running. This is one of the first upgrades available and will greatly aid you.

3rd Upgrade: Containers

Although the first upgrade of Containers does not become available until about halfway through the game it is worth spending materials on when it does appear as it introduces Luminosa and Odoris which will be a huge help when solving some of the game's environmental puzzles. Luminosa illuminates areas for a short period of time which keeps the rats at bay, while Odoris draws rats over to an area.
