1:No.The only way is to defeat Ultimate Weapon.

2:You can meet both of them in disc 1.Vincent is in the basement of the Shinra mansion in Nibelheim.You need to beat the boss called Lost Number in the safe in the mansion to get the key for the basement.Yuffie can be found in the forests near Junon.You will fight her as if it is a normal battle.

1) No, you can only get it by defeating Ultima Weapon.

2) You can get them both on Disc One. Here's how:

Vincent: Head to the Nibleheim Manor. Now go to the north most room in the western wing, you'll see a safe. Enter this code to open it; Right 36, Left 10, Right 59, Right 97. You cannot go past any of these while entering so be cautious. You need to turn the dial to the right to 36, then press the OK button, then back left to 10 and press OK, then back to 59, then right on to 97. Open the safe and you'll come across the boss; Lost Number. Once you have dispatched him, take the Odin Materia and the Basement Key. Head down to the basement and go in the door to the left. Go up to the coffin and press the OK button. Once you have spoken to him, keep pestering him for information until he will not come out anymore. Go to leave, and he will stop you and join you.


Yuffie: You can get her at any point in the game, and this is how to do it. Go to the Gongaga area and walk around in the forest. You should eventually encounter a ninja. Once you beat her you will end up in a clearing and your side of the conversation should go like this:

"Not interested"
"......petrified"
"Wait a second!"
"......That's right."
"......Let's hurry on."

Yuffie will now join you.
