If you want to save FFVII on a PS2 you have to use a PS1 memory card but you will only be allowed to access the PS1 memory card when you choose to save if it is in slot 1.
To save it just put a playstation 1 memory card on either slots and thats about it.Easy. However there is a way to saving youre file to a ps2 memory card but you need to copy it from the ps1 memory card and then put it in the ps2 memory card, but don't try it just in case...its just a rumor though..hope this helps.
The rumor is just a rumor, I doesnt work. You just need a playstaton one memory card. Stay gold
Are you kiddn me all you haf to do is put you're mem card for ps1 into the ps2 and save

Finalfantasy rules! ! ! !
What you do is get a PlayStation One Memory Card and put it into your PS2. Then Find something called a Save Point in the game and save. Wait about a second and the slot options should appear. The one in white is the slot that you put the memory card in. Then just save. I had the same dillema and I got all freaked out, but soon figured it out.
Hope I helped,
