Here my question can you play as sephiroth because I hear someone say if you beat the game in 4 hours you can play as sephiroth

Lets get things straight. You can't play as Sephiroth. Because:
1. It is impossible to beat the game in four hours.
2. Squaresoft wouldn't put him as a playable character anyway.

That is completely false. You cannot play as Sephiroth.

That is utter shite if you can complete any FF game in 4 hours your either a filthy cheater or you made the game plus it would be waaaay too easy as sephiroth and how would you fight sephiroth duuh!

I think nuball is talkin about when you fight alongside sephiroth when cloud has a flashback of the nibelhiem incident. This is the only time you play as sephiroth and you don't get to use him anyway. All of his moves are controllled by the game

You cannot beat the game in 4 hours but it is possible to play as sephiroth, but you must have a gameshark or xploder. Use these codes to play as him and yes they do work so don't argue.

USO 30099FA1000B: A hidden menu underneath save. Use this code after your first bombing mission and USO will become available. You can then change any characters in your team to any character in the game. 9 and 10 are Young cloud and sephiroth. I would put Sephiroth in slot 3.

Young Cloud in 2nd Slot: 8009CAA80900
This will put Young Cloud in the 2nd slot. You should
Use USO instead but if you want him from the start of the
Game use it then turn the code off when you get Barret. Sephiroth in 3rd slot: 8009CAAA000A
This will put Sephiroth in the 3rd slot. You should use
USO instead but if you want him from the start of the
Game use it then turn it off when you get to Barret.

Control Sephiroth in 3rd position (battle): 800F84C80008
DOES work but only in position or slot 3. Sephiroth will be controllable in slot 3 and will not be invincible.
