Question for The Sims 2

I already have all of the Sims 2 expansion packs/games, but I got a new laptop, and instead installed the Sims 3, and now I'm just wondering if I could install Sims 2 on my laptop, with Sims 3 already on there? I just want to know if it would crash my computer, or something less dramatic, because I really don't want to have to replace my new laptop if it breaks, or anything like that.

Further information: My laptop is a Dell with Windows 7 and Intel Pentium.

I have both the sims 2 and 3 on my laptop with windows 7 and it's fine. They are two seperate games. You shouldn't have any problems.
