Building House

Please help me guys.. Im new here in the sims 2.. and i was just wondering if you could help me build my own house.. The only thing i can do now is place an empty lot in the area.. putting foundation, walls, or using a terrain on it doesn't seem to be working.. I've tried the one i've read in a forum and it said that i should left click and drag, but again, nothing happened.. I'm dying to make a house on my own and start playing, but i cant.. please help me..

ANSWERS

Go onto the empty lot and in the bottom left corner there are three big buttons. The first Button is for when you have a family moved in to the house, it's the mode where you actually play with your sims.
The second one is the buy mode where you can get furniture, electronics, fridges, cars, etc.
The third one is the build mode where you can create walls, paint them, make doors windows, plant trees, create pools, carports, etc.

Note:To customize or find out more information about anything like a car, paint, doors, windows, etc: when you click on the item you are thinking about buying/using, if you don't move the mouse then a blue box should come up. It can help you customize some things, and can tell you how to cover a whole room with the same paint, or delete the paint on the walls.

To create a wall click on it, then move your mouse over to where you want to start your wall. Click and drag it to where you want to finish the wall.
Note: Walls can't be dragged diagonally, only vertically and horizontally. When dragging walls you must use seperate walls to change direction.
