No reflection in mirrors or see other homes next door

I am unable to see a reflection in the mirrors or see other homes across the street or next door. I have an up to date video card and plenty of memory and speed. What is the problem?

If you go to the option on the UI that looks like a stack of books (the same place you go to exit/save your game) You should be able to edit your graphics options in there. There are options for clickable neighbors, for reflections on and off, detail level, etc.
