Getting the EA Games content manager to work.

I've found that my Sims 2 games definitely have a problem with custom content. A friend told me I should download the EA Games custom content manager. I have it installed on my computer now, yet I can't figure out how to operate it. I have been trying to fix this for days now, and I desperately want to play the sims! Please, someone tell me EXACTLY how to work this content manager.
