How do you seperate sim stories without having to remake the family?

If you could elaborate on that I may be able to answer your question with more precision.

To seperate your sims stories: Easy way.
Go to your neighborhood view, select the story editor, and seperate each picture manualy, from one family to another.

To seperate your sims stories: Hard way. (not recommended)
Go to the START menu select My Documents and continue to the EA Games folder, than Sims 2, find the correct neighborhood folder (they are all numbered) look at the screenshots for your pictures. Highlight the pictures you want to move, right click and drag them let go, select Copy Here. This should create doubles. Right click the files click rename and where it says "Copy Of" before the title of the image, and add another number instead. After your finished, enter your game, and from the neighborhood view allocate those pictures to the correct family.
