At the top of the screen there is a blue icon of buildings, with a large money sum underneath (11,500K). How do I spend this money? It only lets me spend the other amount on the left. Also it's telling me to check my mailbox but there's nothing there.

That the value of you town. So infact it is money you have already spend to add value to your town. Your can't spend it again!

That money is not for you to spend, it's how much your town is worth. Each time you buy stuff for your sims house the money goes up but if you sell stuff the money goes down. My current town is like worth 153,264 and my goal is to make it worth 200,000, when we reach the goal we get awards

And your mail umm you need to check the mail box in front of your sims house

The blue building icon with the large number under it tells you how much your town is worth. You can't spend it :(

The mail box thing happened to me too. I think it's a small glitch. It will probably be fixed in the next update.

Its how much it towns worth and it's a glitch

To answer your mail, you have to use the sim that the mail is at. So say the mail is at 'sallys' house then 'bob' can't open the mail. Only 'sally' can.

That is for how much your town is worth from what I know there's no way to spend it

No you can not use this money as it is what your town is worth and more your town is worth the more objects you can build and unlock
