One of the options from the main menu is to access the Uplay Network – this is a value added but free game rewards system that was created by Ubisoft a few years ago and that has since been used to incorporate certain benefits for the gamers who play Ubisoft's games. The interesting thing is that in each game you can obtain Uplay Points that can be spent on rewards, but they do not have to be spent on the rewards for the game you earned the points in, which means that in theory you can save up those points to spend on the game rewards you really want from other games.

In the case of the AC series that is good news indeed, because it means that most gamers who have banked Uplay Points will have them available to access and activate the rewards for the AC games that they want and, not surprisingly, that can really add to the game play experience.

Adding free content to the game via the Uplay Network

Recently the network has been expanded to include some new features, including access to a Friend List of all of your Friends on your console and what their Uplay Points are, as well as news about what they have been doing in their games, a Uplay TV option that offers the ability to watch the four-part making of videos that were created by Ubisoft and shown at Gamescon and E3, as well as a video showcasing the Uplay Rewards for AC3.

There is the Uplay Shop, where you can actually purchase additional games online, and a mail system for sending messages to your mates who are part of the network, and two selections for seeing the Actions and obtaining the Rewards.

The Rewards include:

  • Assassin's Creed III Theme (10U)
  • The Life Scratcher Pack (20U)
  • Ezio's Outfit (30U)
  • The Renegade Pack (40U)

In previous games there were maps you could get but even so, having Ezio's Outfit, while it is rather anachronistic considering the current time line is still pretty cool... The Renegade Pack adds to the Multi-Player side of the game, but it is the Life Scratchers Pack that you will really want, since that expands the storage for your med kit in the game...
