How to Set your PC's MAC Address to your Xbox

Published by SuperCheats Staff on Aug 13th 2013
If you're connecting to an internet connection that requires a sign-in, you may want to set your computer's MAC address to your Xbox for the network to identify it as your PC. The only downside is that you may not be able to use the PC where you copied the MAC address and the Xbox at the same time.

  1. Get your computer's MAC address

  2. For XP Users:
    * Click Start, select Run
    * Type cmd
    * In the command prompt window, type, ipconfig /all

    For Windows Vista
    * Click the orb, go to All Programs, Accessories then Command Prompt

    For Windows 7
    * Click the orb, go to search and type CMD.

  3. Take note of the physical address. This is a string of alphanumeric characters that should look something like 00-01-XD-XX-D1-1S

  4. Turn on your Xbox and go through Settings - System - Network Settings

  5. Select your Wired or Wireless Connection

  6. Select Configure Network - Additional Settings - Advanced Settings

  7. Select Alternate MAC Address then enter the physical address of your PC without the dashes

  8. Click Done twice then connect your xbox to the internet.

  9. Test the Xbox Live connection
