Perhaps the most infuriating part of Hay Day is the way players are curtailed by the limited size of Barns and Silos. It is strongly recommended that you save your Diamonds for purchasing the raw materials needed to increase the size of the Barn and Silo, as some of the items can be very scarce to come by.
Tap the Barn/Silo and then click on the increase storage option. You will then see all of the items that you need to be able to upgrade. Nails, Wood, Planks and so on. These are found whenever you collect an item, harvest a crop, or check a mystery crate. The chances of finding them are slim, but you may be able to find them for sale from another player if you get lucky.
It won't be long before you have to increase your Silo and Barn storage

People pay money for this game and its frustrating when you feel as if the game makers control what you can purchase. why don't they make a mill so you can mill your own wood every time you cut your wood trees down
Guys it's easy to get Bolts,screws,planks,nails and other building meterial for you're barn and silo and you can also get deeds and the hammers that are needed to expand you're farm..
the one thing you need is a little patients first clear you're gardening squares then plant at least 15 squares of wheat it only takes a minute or so to grow and basically when you cut it down with the sickle you should get a single item for expanding your barn or silo or farm expansion item you may also get an axe or a saw to cut down bushes or trees i think you can get mining items as well..
also it only gives you one every other time you cut down wheat also when you harvest the eggs from the chickens or other food products from the animals you can get stuff.
then put the wheat up for sale I always put it up for sale at about 4 coins per 10 wheat.. you can it still may take awhile but when i was level 39 my barn was at 450 and my silo was at 475...
I'm level 42 and my barn is 500 and my silo is 525
I need nails to upgrade my silo. how to get them?
just grow wheat and harvest it make sure you plant around 15 or so squares at a time and harvest it. it only takes 2 minutes for wheat to fully grow and once it does you can harvest and you will always get an item and most of time you should get a item to help increase storage for you're barn or silo.. just make sure you sale you're wheat for a low amount of coins like 3 coins..
I don't know if this would be considered good or not but Im level 42 and my barn storage is at 500 and my silo storage is at 525 and i haven't spent one diamond on getting the items i need to expand them....
