Beginner Tips and Tricks

Listed below are several Beginner Tips and Tricks which will help you to progress quickly through Far Cry 6.

Upgrade Amigos to Enhance their Abilities

In Far Cry 6 there are seven animal companions called 'Amigos' that have can fight alongside your character in combat. Five of them (Guapo, Chorizo, Chicharron, Boom Boom, and Oluso) you will be able to obtain as you progress through the campaign, while the other two (K9000 and Champagne) are only accessible through the Blood Dragon and Vice Pack sets, respectively. Amigos can be a great help, especially if they have been upgraded, as each possesses its own unique abilities. Make sure you inspect an Amigo in the pause menu when you have unlocked them to find out what the objectives are that need to be completed to further enhance them. Take a look at our Amigos Guide to find out more about them.

Call for a Ride to Refill your Ammo

If you are nearby to a driveable road, you will be able to summon a car to your location using the weapon wheel. Aside from being useful for getting you to locations quickly when fast traveling is not available, it will also enable you to refill your ammo. All you simply have to do is approach the trunk of the car and any lost ammo or gadgets will be restocked. This feature however does have a 30-minute cooldown, so make sure you use it only when necessary.

Capture Enemy Areas for Fast Travel

Although there are many forms of transport you can use to get around the island of Yara, the quickest and most efficient way is to use the fast travel feature. Throughout Yara you will find plenty of enemy territory which will have multiple FND bases, camps, and military checkpoints along the main roads. When you defeat all the enemies at these locations, so they are under your control, they will become Libertad-occupied territory, and you will be able to fast travel to them. A blue icon on your map will indicate an area that has become a fast travel point.

Disable Alarms and Cameras to Earn Bonus Resources

If you manage to capture an FND base, camp or checkpoint by not setting off any alarms and remaining completely undetected, the game will reward you with bonus resources. To achieve this you will need to first scout the base using your cellphone in order to identify the locations of the security cameras that are in place which you will then need to either eliminate from afar using a suppressed weapon to not make any noise or disable manually. It is necessary to take down the cameras because if a dead body is left in its view, the camera will alert the enemy and FND reinforcements will converge on your position.

Take Advantage of your Phone

Your phone is a powerful tool in Far Cry 6, it can be used to scout the surrounding area in order to determine the location of security cameras and alarms, which will then appear as solid red icons on the mini-map. The phone can also be used to tag enemies and inform you of any weaknesses they may have towards a certain ammo type, which will allow you to change your strategy to combat them more effectively. Another feature of the phone, providing you are in the area, is that it can be used to see through walls, which can be very useful. Take a look at our How to Use the Phone guide to find out everything you need to know.

Use Workbenches to Modify Weapons

In Far Cry 6 workbenches are used to build new weapons, modify old ones, and create different types of ammo for use across all of your weapons. Workbenches are scattered across Yara in virtually all bases and guerrilla hideouts, and it is essential that you learn how to master them in order to make modifications such as suppressors, scopes, and special ammo types. Gun Powder is the key ingredient used to modify your arsenal of weapons, and it can be typically found in various caches around the island or FND airdrops that can be stolen.
