Far Cry 6 Cheats, Tips, Strategy

Far Cry 6 is an action-adventure first-person shooter set in a fictional Caribbean island called Yara. Take a look at our cheats and tips to get help progressing in this game which is available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Mac, and PC.

Far Cry 6

The island of Yara is ruled by facicistic dictator 'El Presidente' Anton Castilo whose life's goal is to rebuild the country and bring it back to its glory fifty years ago, no matter what sacrifices he has to make to the people.

You take the role of guerilla fighter Dani Rojas, who is attempting to topple Castillo and his regime. In order to achieve this, you will need to build a network of allies to fight alongside you as you stoke the fires of revolution through guerilla warfare across the island of Yara, from verdant jungles to the urban streets of the capital, Esperanza.

Far Cry 6 Cheats, Tips Strategy

Below is a collection of hints and tips that will help you to progress in the game. These include using the radar and holstering your weapons to pass by enemy guards.

As well as these hints and tips, we also have a beginners guide here which goes into more detail on some of the tips we have below:

  • Direct your Amigos in Combat

Although the pet companions you unlock called 'Amigos' will automatically attack while you engage in combat it is far more beneficial if you direct them, so they attack certain enemies. You can easily do this if you are using a controller by pressing right on the D-pad.

This will tell the Amigo to go to a specific location or an enemy that you are pointing at. A blue icon will appear on the mini-map to signify where the Amigo is heading. A good strategy is to use Amigos to cover your flank when you are sneaking behind enemy lines.

Take a look at our Amigos Guide to find out everything you need to know about the various animal companions that help you in combat in Far Cry 6.

  • Remember Suppressors Overheat

It is important to remember when playing stealthily that although having a suppressor attached will silence your weapon, you will not be able to shoot numerous bullets in a short duration of time as the suppressor is liable to overheat, and your shots will no longer be silenced.

This is something you want to avoid happening, as it will raise the alarm, which means enemies will begin flooding into your area.

Take a look at our How to Get More Gunpowder guide to find out how you can find this precious material that is required to upgrade weapons.

  • Target the Anti-Aircraft Cannons

There are anti-aircraft cannons around the region that will prevent you from flying, which will also keep you from dropping at different checkpoints. If you take out these anti-aircraft cannons as soon as possible, you will be able to airdrop to different fast travel points and then use your jumpsuit to move to areas of interest quickly.

  • Holster your Weapon

Put your weapons away if you are not using them, as doing so will enable you to pass by guards without raising the alarm and make completing objectives easier. Also, some of Anton Castillo's men aren't particularly loyal, if you approach them with your guns out of sight you may be able to bribe them, they'll trade information for cash.

  • Explore Higher Level Areas

The various regions in Far Cry 6 have a level attached to them. This means you need to pay attention to what they are, as it governs the level of difficulty of enemies in the area. You can though if you holster your weapons and play it cool, enter and explore some of these tougher environments early on in the game and grab some loot.

  • Talk to NPCs

Throughout the world of Far Cry 6 are NPC characters and objects marked with exclamation points. Make sure you speak to them or examine the objects, as doing so will enable you to gather Intel or find out about cheats and enemy bases.

Check out our Guerilla Camps Guide to find out everything you need to know about them.

  • Use the Radar

Make sure you use the radar, this useful gadget can be found in the bottom left corner of the screen and has several uses. The most important use it has is its ability to give you the approximate location of enemies - they are symbolized by different colored circles.

This knowledge allows you to prepare for a possible confrontation or avoid the area altogether. The radar also has icons that signify various things, such as enemy-controlled machines and chests with loot.
