Top 15 Hoenn Pokemon that Deserve a Mega Evolution

#15 - Armaldo

We commence our countdown with Armaldo, the most deserving of all the Hoenn Fossil Pokemon. Armaldo is a Pokemon of great Attack and Defense; it also has incredible typing that sees it only being weak to three other types. That's pretty darn good - especially for Fossil Pokemon - but Armaldo also has a few deficiencies. Armaldo has a HORRID Speed Stat, and that's putting things kindly. It has its way within the main storyline - which Pokemon doesn't - but it doesn't stand a chance in competitive play.

As a Mega Evolution, we can see Armaldo receiving primary Stat Boosts to its Attack, Defense, and Speed. Its Speed it what needs the most help, but we really only see it receiving 35 Stat Points to bring it to a total of 80. No, this speed isn't AMAZING, but it will all come together with its ability. Mega Evolutions don't always receive a New Ability, and this would be the case for Mega Armaldo. We can see it retaining Swift Swim, which will double its speed in the rain. Add this in coalition to its Attack and Defense, and Armaldo will actually be something in competitive play; it will once again be relevant in the World of Pokemon.

#14 - Slaking

Slaking is the next Pokemon in our countdown, and some might not think Slaking needs a Mega Evolution. And statistically it doesn't. Slaking has a Base Stat Total of 670, which tops many Legendary Pokemon. It possess an INCREDIBLE amount of strength, and can easily defeat many Pokemon with just one hit. But like all Pokemon, Slaking does have one major setback. And this lies within the confines of its ability, Traunt. Traunt disallows Slaking from attacking on consecutive turns, which is crippling within competitive play.

The first things that needs to be with a Mega Slaking is get rid of its Traunt Ability. Anything, and we mean ANYTHING, would be a better ability. It doesn't have to be anything special, just as long as it's not Traunt. With that HORRIBLE Ability in Slaking's rearview mirror, it can actually be a pretty stellar Mega Evolution. It too would receive the 100 Base Stat Increase, but we feel it will lie mainly in its Defense Stats, along with a few small boosts to its Attack and Speed. It has to at least be semi-defeatable, so they just can't put all of the boost in its Offensive Stats. It will still be a great Pokemon, one that Norman would be proud to use.
