Gotta Catch 'Em All? Top 10 Pokedex Strategies

03. Pokedex Stuffing

The reason that this final step is called “Stuffing” is largely because it is difficult work that requires dealing with other people.

When a pro trainer talks about Stuffing his Dex what they are saying is that they hung out - either in a chat room or in the lobby at a semi-official or official gaming event that involved Pokemon, and they essentially asked for specific temporary trades.

The goal when you are Stuffing is to just get the Dex Entry unlocked and completed. You only want to see and use their rare Pokemon for 30 seconds - as long as it takes to trade it in then trade it back out.

When you Stuff in person it is a lot easier, since you are right there and the other Trainer does not have to worry about you cutting your connection and bolting.

So when you do it online - with people you do not know - they are going to insist that you offer up a Pokemon that is equally rare and equally valuable as the temporary hostage while you do the trade.

Then once you have your Dex Entry they will trade it back to you for the one you borrowed and all should be right in the world.

Once you have Stuffed that Dex Entry you can then - not that you HAVE an Entry - access the trade requests and searches for that specific Pokemon since that is the basic requirement for the trade system.

This may sound like it is the obvious way to go but the thing is people are strange - and sometimes even though you think that the Pokemon you have borrowed is worth more than the one you offered as hostage, they will surprise you and cut-and-run with YOUR hostage!

So never offer up as hostage a Pokemon you can not accept losing. Stuffing is a risky process, and in particular it is risky when you do it online. Just saying.
