How to Progress your Characters in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot

For your characters to progress through Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot it is essential that you improve their abilities and build friendships along the way. This also means understanding all the intricacies involved with leveling them up. Check out our How to Progress your Characters guide to find out everthing you need to know.

Fighting

The most basic way to progress your characters in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is through fighting. Engaging in battles will earn your character XP which will help them to level them up. After each battle you will be ranked on how you performed during the fight. Once you get a grasp of the controls and understand the basics of any given battle's pacing you shouldn't have too many problems getting a good rank.

Community Boards and Soul Emblems

The Community Board in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot consists of seven different communities that give stat bonuses to your characters. Housed in these communities are Soul Emblems, which can be placed to increase that community's rank. Leveling up each community is how you garner new stat bonuses which helps to strengthen your character. Certain Soul Emblems will have a special relationship that will grant you a Link Bonus which will also help increase a community's rank. Check out our Soul Emblem Guide to find out everything you need to know about them.

Eat Meals

In Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot, Chi-Chi and the other cooks found in cities can prepare a meal for you that will give you temporary and permanent stat boosts. If you decide to visit Chi-Chi you will be given the option to create a dish or full-course meal. Although a full-course meal will have a more poistive effect on boosting your character's stats, it will also be more difficult to craft as it will likely involve adding rarer ingredients. Most of the ingredients found in recipes can be found naturally as you progress through the game completing missions and by exploring. Keep in mind that although the smaller dishes will only make miniscule amounts of change to your stats you will be able to make a lot of them easily and their accumulation will make a difference.

Training Sessions

You will be able to expand the number of abilities you can use in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot by participating in training sessions. Training areas are indicated on the map, and there are recommended levels for completing the challenge needed to acquire the ability. Having Super Attacks equipped will make the battles your character engages in easier. You can have up to four Super Attacks equipped at any one time. Check out our How to Unlock and Equip Super Attacks guide to find out everything you need to know about them.

Complete Side Quests

Although the side quests in Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot are not integral to the main story they are still worthwhile doing. Side quests can give you more XP to level up your characters and the opportunity to earn more Z Orbs which you can then use to upgrade your Super Attacks. You can also get additional Soul Emblems for the Community Board by participating in side quests as well as ingredients for dishes.
