How to Upgrade Weapons

Weird West is not your usual straightforward western game, it gets its 'weird' in the title from the various dark fantasy creatures that are in the game. As you would expect these creatures are not taken down easily, so it is crucial that you know how to upgrade your weapons, especially at the start of a new chapter when the main character changes. This How to Upgrade Weapons guide will tell you everything you need to know.

You will need two items in order to begin upgrading weapons in Weird West: a pickaxe and nuggets. You can always purchase pickaxes from General Stores, and it is recommended that you always keep at least two in your inventory as their durability level diminishes with use until they eventually break. If you have a posse have one of the followers hang onto one of the pickaxes. Nuggets is the material required for upgrading weapons, and it can be looted from veins mined with a pickaxe. You will be able to find nuggets in quarries and caves as well as anywhere in the world where you have to go underground. There are three varieties of nuggets - Copper, Silver, and Gold, which is the most valuable.

Once you have a decent amount of nuggets you need to take them to a blacksmith, there are multiple blacksmiths in Weird West that proved their service. Early in the game you can find a blacksmith in Grackle which is the first town you spawn in. Use the blacksmith's forge to open up the upgrade window. Find the weapon you want to upgrade and hover over it. When you do this the game will provide a list of everything you need, this will include the number and type of nuggets you require. Upgrading a weapon from 1-star to 2-star requires two Copper nuggets. Upgrading it again requires seven Silver nuggets. And, finally, 4-star weapons require ten Gold nuggets. Keep in mind that a weapon will not appear in the crafting window if you do not have the necessary materials to upgrade it. It is recommended that you save the nuggets you find for later when you have found unique and powerful weapons instead of using them on the standard weapons you get at the beginning of the game.

Note: When you are searching for nuggets you may come across ingots. Hold onto these as they can either be sold for cash or smelt into nuggets.
