What is the Sheikah Slate

This is a multipurpose tool found at the start of the game and is used to access a map of Hyrule. The Sheikah Slate can be used as a scope to zoom in on distant objects, set map markers that appear both on the map and seen while traversing and unlock the way to Shrines. It can also be used to scan enemies to highlight their position and their total health. The primary use of this mysterious object though is to unleash the power of Runes - special upgrades you find across the land that include magical bombs, a powerful magnetic device, the ability to freeze time, or create frozen platforms.
