Listed below are several Beginner Tips and Tricks which will help you in The DioField Chronicles.
Level up Andrias
Andrias is without doubt the best character in The DioField Chronicle as he is able to contribute to the team effectively as both an attacker and a tank. Always upgrade Andrias if you are are ever in any doubt as to what hero to level up. Take a look at our Best Character Guide to find out who the best characters are in The DioField Chronicle.
Stay Together
It is advised that during missions you progress through the map as a team that stays close together as doing so will not only enable you to support one another it will also allow you to gang up on the tougher enemies you encounter and take them down faster.
Complete Sub Quests
As you progress through the main story it is essential that you complete as many of the sub quests as possible as they allow you to receive various rewards that will help to make the tougher missions you are given later in the game easier to complete. The rewards you can receive from sub quests include money, Unit Rank upgrades, and optional recruitible characters. Keep in mind that completing sub quests will also enable you to rack up Ability Points (AP) and Skill Points (SP).
Always Upgrade your Weapon
The weapon that your character uses in The DioField Chronicle has the most significant impact on your character's overall performance in battle, so it is important that you are continually upgrading it as you progress through the story. Your weapon affects the skills you can use, your damage potential, and also EP caps. When you consider that earning a decent amount of money during the early game is quite hard it is recommended that any money you do earn is put aside for your weapon. Take a look at our Best Weapons Guide to see what the best weapons are in The DioField Chronicle.
Practice Battles
A great way to grind levels, AP, and SP is to run Practice Battles. This feature allows you to replay missions as many times as you want during the main story campaign and becomes unlocked when you clear the Coswell Volcano Expedition mission in Chapter 1. Once unlocked Practice Battle can be accessed near the Institute (research facility on the first floor).
Don't Invest in Waltaquin
Waltaquin will leave your team in Chapter 5 and become an enemy so make sure you invest your AP, SP, and money on the other Magicker class characters like Shivat or Estalt instead. Leveling up Waltaquin and giving her better gear will only make things more difficult for yourself later in the story when she becomes an enemy.
