How to go Fast in Team Sonic Racing

Being able to go fast in Sonic Team Racing is essential for keeping pace with your teammates and there are a number of things you can do either as a team or solo to maintain the top speed of your characters' kart as you race on the various tracks. This how to go Fast Guide will help you to maximise your karts speed.

Collecting Rings

Collecting rings in Team Sonic Racing will raise your karts top speed. Rings are plentiful across the different courses and are shared amongst the racers. Snatch rings away from your opponents whenever the opportunity presents itself but make sure you don't leave yourself open for an attack or fall of the track doing so. Rings are particularly important for those racers in the Speed Class. Remember though that if you get hit by an object, spin out, or fall off the track you will lose all your collected rings.

Slingshot Boosting

In Team Sonic Racing the teammate who is furthest forward will produce a slipstream for their team to follow. If you manage to stay behind the gold tire marks that indicates the slipstream while increasing your speed you will charge a boost that will catapult you forwrd when you leave your teammates trail.

Drifting

Drifting is an essential skill that will help you to keep pace with the leaders. Mastering the drift will enable you to get the most out of boosting around the track. If you can stay in the leader of your teams' slipstream when they are drifting you will be rewarded with an additional slingshot boost.

Skimboosting

When a teammate ahead has taken a hit and is spinning out you can tag them as you go past to cause a Skimboost which will launch them forward and bring them back to top speed. Skimboosting a teammate will not bring back their coins. Being adept at Skimboosting will help your team maintain momentum.

Boost Pads

The purple arrow markers that occassionally appear on the floor indicate Boost Pads. Racing over one will provide you with a temporary boost.

Boost Wisps

The white, one-eyed Wisp will give you a boost of speed when called upon. Hold onto this particular Wisp for in case you spin out or need to get through a rough terrain section of track.

Stunts

Performing a stunt on any of the game's tracks will provide you with a sudden burst of speed upon landing successfully. Missing the landing will cause you to spin out and lose all of your collected rings.

Team Ultimate

Whenever your Ultimate Meter is full you can activate it to put all three of your team members in a yellow invincible state that drastically increases their speed and lets you travel over any terrain. The Ultimate Meter is replenished by doing Slingshots, Skim Boosts, and by transfering wisps to teammates. Every enemy that you hit while in Ultimate mode will increase the time you remain in this mode slightly.
