How to Upgrade Calcified Ember

Calcified Ember in Monster Train is a Blight Card that is a risk/reward pickup from the Concealed Caverns which gives you a Blight on your run until you can uprgrade it. Check out our How to Upgrade Calcified Ember to find out how this is done.

Calcified Ember is basically an annoying card that clogs up your deck and stifles your ability to play the cards you want as you will be drawing Embers instead. You can get rid of Calcified Embers immediately by spending 3 Embers to purge them or you can keep them. If you decide to retain them and then manage to survive two battles without purging them you will be rewarded with some very powerful goodies.

Calcified Embers can be picked up in the Ember Deposits event in the Concealed Caverns when you are given the choice between an Abandoned Stave Artifact, two Vengeful Shard Blight cards, or Calcified Ember. You can also get Calcified Embers from playing the Penance Yard event which will give you three Calcified Ember along with Ember Stasis, an Artifact that deals 100 damage to the front enemy unit when you play a Blight card. The Ember Stasis Artifact you get in the Penance Yard event can not be upgraded.

Once you have the Cacified Ember in your deck and managed to survive two battles you will be able to replace them after the second battle with Excavated Ember. Excavated Ember is a 0 cost Consume spell that enables you to gain 2 Ember and draw 1 card. When you encounter a tough battle this gives you a lot of potential. Remember though that a Consume spell can only be used once in a battle so you need to make sure you do not waste it.
