There are 10 primary weapons in the game and if you hope to survive the post-apocalyptic Russia of Metro Exodus you will need to get your hands on them. Once you have one of these weapons you will be able to customise it using the many variations available. The Kalash, formally known as the Kalashnikov assault rifle was the service rifle of the Russian army before the nuclear war that drove humanity underground. This assault rifle is held in very high regard in the Metro due to its reliability and performance.

The Bast ard is a Metro-made submachine gun, it has poor accuracy and the high shooting speed makes it overheat very quickly. To find it you will have to do the chapter 'Il Volga', and when Anna accompanies you by boat, you turn right towards the shack near the pier.

The Gatling is a machine gun with a high fire rate made by local gunsmiths. It is capable of long sustained fire barrages. It requires a spin-up of the barrel block before shooting and is equipped with a Quadrant-Type Magazine, Short Barrels, and a Spring Mechanism feed. There are no customisation options for the Gatling.

Compared with the Kalash, the Bulldog has a low rate of fire, and is also inferior in reliability. The Bulldog does however have good accuracy and high damage. The design of the weapon makes it very delicate in the post-nuclear world and therefore will tend to degrade more easily.

This is a pneumatic revolver crossbow that shoots metal bolts. You can pump up pressure to increase the damage. You will find the Helsing during an end-of-game chapter tied to a statue.

The Tikhar becomes available in the chapter The Volga. It is given to you by a fellow Spartan, Tokarev, who will periodically upgrade the gun. The Tikhar Rifle has been cobbled together using spare parts and duct tape. What it lacks in polish it more than makes up for in effectiveness and usefulness. It is the only weapon in your inventory that you can craft ammo for on the go and the steel balls it shoots are relatively cheap to craft.
