Where are the Equipment Upgrades

In Metro Exodus your chances of surviving depends a lot on your gear. You need to upgrade your equipment to be more resistant to attacks, increase your damage resistance, and give you new abilities. This page contains locations of upgrades that can be found in The Volga and The Caspian Sea. Note: It is not vital that you find these items but doing so can make your life easier, especially if you’re playing on a higher difficulty setting.

THE VOLGA

1) Compass

In the cockpit of a crashed plane you will find a compass by the pilot's skeleton that always points to your main objective.

2) Ammo Pouches

At this location there is a two floor building that some bandits holding prisoners. On the upper floor of this building you can find Ammo Pouches to boost your ammo carrying capacity.

3) Night Vision Goggles

At his location you find the night vision goggles which will give you a stealth advantage at night. You can get them as part of the main mission to steal the railcar, or using the key you can get from rescuing the prisoners in the building where you find the Ammo Pouches above.

4) Extended Gas Mask Filter

At this location you will find a tiny shack where a researcher died researching mushrooms. Search the shack to find an extended Filter that will make your gas mask last longer.

5) Throwable Ammo Upgrade

When you have killed all the bandits at this gas station you will find the throwing weapon harness inside, it will allow you to carry more knives, grenades and molotov cocktails.

6) Metal Detector

At this location in a small rusty house near a crane you will find a small attachment that will help you find resources in the world.

7) Charge Controller

Search around a small shed at this location to find a gas canister to power up the generator inside. This will let you open the doors in the larger building and the attachment. The Charge Controller will extend your battery life.

THE CASPIAN SEA

1) Night Vision Scope

The Night Vision Scope can be obtained during the Yamanteu level before you reach Caspian. There is however another one at this location along with a Valve single column magazine that hold five rounds. To get them though you will have to avoid tripwire booby traps and monsters.

2) Motion Tracker

This is a useful gadget if you need to employ stealth at any time as it will show you the direction enemies are in. The Motion Tracker is in the ship and you will need to fight your way to the top to find it. Try not to hurt the slaves.

3) Extra Bright Light

You will find it at this location in a safe house booby trapped with tripwire grenades. Although the extra bright light has a longer, wider brighter beam that lets you see a lot more in dark it will chew through your batteries faster.

4) Armoured Gas Mask

Athough the canyon does not appear on your map you will be able to spot it easily when you get close. Fight your way through the slavers to find a ladder that will drop once they are all killed. At the top of the ladder you will find a cave with an armoured glass upgrade for your gas mask which will make it less likely to crack.

5) Night Vision Goggle Upgrade

The NVD amplifier boosts your night vision goggles to provide a clearer image. To reach the main building where they are located you will first need to kill some guards. Then you will have to fight through a horde of mutants to find it on the top floor.

6) Increased Consumables Carrying Upgrade

At this location there is a tiny cave where you will find a consumables carrier which lets you carry more air filters and med kits.

7) Armoured Helmet

At this location there is a shipwreck full of slavers which you must fight your way through without hurting the slaves. The Reinforced Helmet which is able to absorb more headshot damage can be found on the first level of the main area.
