How to Summon Tengus

Tengu are a legendary creature found in Japanese folk religion. In Ghostwire: Tokyo they are a yokai spirits that fly around the rooftops of the city and can use to access hard-to-reach or high-up places. Tengus are harmless, and don't pose any threat, and providing you have unlocked the ability they can be summoned to help you get around the city. The ability in question is called Amenotori X and it becomes unlocked once you lean how to grapple to the Tengu, the upgraded version of the skill allows you to summon Tengu at any compatible spot and grapple instantly. The first time you can realistically get this upgrade is during Chapter 3 in the story mission 'Blindness'. The map opens more after you break the barrier, allowing you to go around and do side quests that often appear after you cleanse a Torii gate. A Megatama is a reward you receive for absorbing a Yokai soul. Once you have the Amenotori X ability you will be able to call the Tengu and extend your grapples to them and use them to travel around the world.

The first time you encounter a Tengu in Ghostwire: Tokyo is during Chapter 1 of the 'Maze of Death' story mission. To reach the target Torii, you must make use of a Tengu to scale the heights. To use the Amenotori skill, you must first aim at a ledge to instantly spawn a Tengu. If you are using a PlayStation 5 controller you need to press LT, on the PC you can aim using the right mouse button. Then either press the A button or Space Bar on your keyboard to grapple. You will be able to scale a building that is a bit too far from your location by gliding and then aiming at the ledge to climb up. Keep in mind that Amenotori X has a range limit, so you may have to make use of buses and lamp posts to reach the required range to spawn a Tengu.
