The Plot

A sacred shard that has been protecting the Alberian Kingdom for ages has been showing signs of its power growing weaker. This sets you, the 7th in-line to the throne of Alberia (and by far the only heir who haven't acquired the bloodline's unique shape-shifting power), on a mission to form a pact with your very own dragon.

However, on a mysterious turn of events -- just as you earned your dragon and without a clue of what exactly happened, you were branded as a traitor. Now with the help of some trusted allies, you're out on a quest to unfold these mysteries, and more, now it rests on your shoulders to save the kingdom. The catch: You'll be up against your own siblings and the Sage King Aurelius himself, your father.

A History of Humankind and Dragons, As Told Since Antiquity

It was 1,000 years ago that humans and Dragons were locked in a vicious conflict against one another. Humans made continuous technological advancements while dragons chose to honor the natural order of things. It seemed all but inevitable that the two sides should come to war.

Amid the chaos of war, the humans summoned forth a demon to destroy the Dragons. But this creature turned on its summoners and cast the world into despair.

To stand against the demon, Llia -- the greatest among the humans, who would later become Auspex -- formed a pact with the Holyworm Elysium, the greatest among the Dragons. They shared struggle saw the feel creature sealed away.

And so ended what would come to be known as the First War of Binding. And so the history of humankind and Dragons began anew.

The image above shows the characters as we know them (and as officially provided by the developers of the game). The character you are playing, is the 7th in line to the throne, a dragonblood prince. Dragonblood means you have the unique ability to form a pact with a dragon, and when successful, you can call forth its ability whenever you need it. Game-wise, whenever you need its power, your character can shape-shift to that particular dragon and temporarily have its great power (faster movement and stronger attacks).

The interesting part to in the chart above is that you are bound to form a pact with a windwyrm - which begs the question if you are limited to this default dragon, or will you be able to pick one that you like. According to the introductory videos and Gameplay videos by far, the journey towards forming a pack with your own dragon always shows Midgardsormr (the green dragon) in the clip which presumably denotes that it is the protagonist's default dragon. Hopefully though, it can change according to the player's preference, or even better, you'd have the ability to collect all Dragons and inter-change them as you need them.

It is also hinted that the antagonists in the game would be your siblings and the current king, your father. This would make their loyalist your enemies as well (e.g. the Chief Guard Harle, and the Royal Knight Captain Leif). However, the interesting thing to see in the same image is that there are no details about the 5th in-line heir. Which begs the question if that particular heir is either an enemy (plausibly the main antagonist later on in the game), or some sort of special character to help you in your journey later on.

There are some weird discrepancies too with those that are shown in the Gameplay videos where you get to play with Zethia (your twin) in your party, when the introductory videos show you'll somewhat lose her (hopefully she just gets abducted and not die?). Nonetheless, for all we know this might be a mid-game occurrence (like that of Aeris in Final Fantasy perhaps?) -- which would tell you that it wouldn't be a good idea to put efforts on trying to improve on her character.

You also have a Faerie - named Notte, which we presume will be there to guide you through the tutorial phase. Hopefully she gets a role in the game more than that - like a pet system that generally provides you with special buffs for instance, and at the same time you can progressively level up separately as well. And there are the ones in the chart that are noted as "Friends" - which probably are the characters that you can earn in the game as your party members.

We also know that there is a system in place that lets you Summon a character (random spin) and add to your roster of playable characters in the game. If so, it begs the question how this summoning system pitches that new character in the story? Hopefully, as the game gets online on September 27, we'll shed new light on these matters and give you an update.
