Special Items Location Guide

Throughout the game are items you can pick up automatically by walking over them. You will either find them lying on the ground while exploring or inside a chest. These items will appear on the top right of your screen in a straight line (see screenshot above). There will also be some items there that are arranged in a diamond shape, these items can only be activated manually when you pick up a special item. When you pick up a Special Item it will be placed automatically in one of the slots that form the diamond shape and they are then used by pressing the corresponding button. Boomerang

The Boomerang is a throwable item that will stun its target and then return back to you. It can be found in the main dungeon chest were it is a reward and in a chest in the Desert mini-dungeon.

Magic Boomerang

This Boomerang is a more powerful Boormerang that it capable of killing smaller enemies before returning back to you. It can be found in a mini-dungeon in the over world, contained inside a purple chest.

Bombchu

Bombchu is used to blow up enemies. It moves in a line and will reveal any hidden passages. You can buy a Bombchu from a store in the world.

Bombs

Bombs are used to blow up enemies and reveal any hidden passages. They are common enemy drops but can if you need them be bought from most stores in the world.

Bow

The Bow is used to attack enemies from a distance, providing you ranged combat. You will acquire the Bow as a reward when you defeat the Dungeon boss.

Fire Arrow, Lightning Arrow, and Ice Arrow

These arrows can be used with your bow and offer the corresponding effects in your ranged combat. You will find these arrows hidden in mini dungeons of the world. Keep an eye out for bushes that have a blue butterfly on it as there is a possibility that it could be hiding a secret under it.

War Drum

The War Drum is an item that allows you to skip a beat and power up for the next beat that follows. You will acquire this item after you solve the Windmill Hut Crate Puzzle. Power Glove

The Power Glove is an item that is used to pick up large items and throw them. You get this item as a reward for awakening Barriara in the Garudo Village.

Tingles Dowser

Lute

The Lute is an item that allows you to fast travel between Sheikah Stones. It can be found inside a cave in Lake Hyrule. Check out our How to Fast Travel Guide to find out how you acquire and use the Lute.

Hookshot

The Hookshot is an item that is used to attack objects and then pull them towards you. It can also be used to stun enemies. The Hookshot can be found inside the boss dungeon chest. It can be upgraded with Longshot so it offers more range and stuns more enemies.

Rito Feather

Rito Feather is an item allows you to jump and avoid attacks that can be particularly effective when combined with a Downward Thrust attack on an enemy. You can find the Rito Feather in the beach dungeon and the Windmill Hut.

Deku Leaf

Deku Leaf is an item that allows you to send a gust of wind that knocks enemies back. It can be obtained from a chest near the waterfalls in the Grassland area. It can also be found in the dungeon chests.

Pegasus Anklet

Pegasus Anklet is an item that is used for a dash attack that can be released after holding for two beats. It is found in a chest in Frozen Grotto Boss Dungeon.

Ice Rod

The Ice Rod deals 1 ice damage, while also freezing enemies. It can be found contained inside blue chests.

Fire Rod

The Fire Rod throws a fireball that deals 1 damage. You can find it in a blue chest that can be found in the world. It can also be found inside a chest in Garudo Dungeon.

Empty Bottle #1

Empty Bottle #1 is an item used to store the things that you find such as fish and faeries. You can get this item from the beach hut store. Empty Bottle #1 can also be upgraded by purchasing a Health or Stamina Potion from the Grassland Shop.

Empty Bottle #2

Empty Bottle #2 is an item that is used to store the things you find such as fish and faeries. You can purchase this item from a store hidden in the cliffs. The access to this store can be revealed by using a bomb. Empty Bottle #2 can be upgraded by purchasing a Health or Stamina Potion from the Grassland Shop.

Empty Bottle #3

Empty Bottle #3 is an item that is used to store the things you find such as fish and faeries. You can purchase this item from the Grassland Shop. The access to this store can be revealed by using a bomb. Empty Bottle #3 can also be upgraded by purchasing a Health or Stamina Potion from the Grassland Shop.
