At the start of the game, Cadence and Zelda will only have a dagger, and Link's only weapon will be a short sword. These are very basic weapons which when you move into a square that has an enemy on it will only attack and deal 1 point of damage. Although it is possible to get through the entire game only using these weapons you will find it a lot easier if you equip and master other weapons which are more effective against the enemies you encounter. The following How to Get Better Weapons in Cadence Hyrule guide will help you to find them.
The weapons you should be looking to get your hands on are those that attack more than one space as they allow you to keep tough enemies at bay while at the same time whittling down their health. These weapons include the spear that attacks 2 spaces in front of you and the wide sword that can attack three adjacent spaces in front of you and hits multiple enemies at once. These weapons can often be found in chests in the open world, dungeons, or shops.
There is also the possibility that you will come across glass weapons which are basically stronger versions of each weapon type. Although glass weapons will deal more damage against the enemy they will break if you take damage, this means you must be very careful when using them. Some of the weapon types in Cadence Hyrule come with a specific effect such as allowing you to sap life from enemies or poison them. You can choose whichever weapon you like from your 'Item' menu and make it your default weapon.
