Upgrade your Settlement

In Assassins Creed Valhalla it is essential that you regularly return to your settlement to upgrade your buildings with the materials you collected. As your renown grows new building opportunities that have a useful purpose will become available. An example of this is the cartographer who sells maps which will make hunting down valuable goods in the world easier.

Go on Raids

Raids in Assassin's Creed Valhalla become available when you reach England and have established a settlement. Once you have done this you will be tasked with upgrading your settlement by collecting raw materials and supplies and going on raids is the best way to do this. Raids are designated on the map by two red axes and their recommended Power Level corresponds to their region so to be successful it is recommended that you should only engage in those that are around your Power Level. Raids can only be started from your longship, so if you reach a raid location on foot, you will need to call in a longship using your ability wheel.

Unlock Events and Minigames

In Assassins Creed Valhalla you will often find points of interest clustered around larger monasteries you can raid, or towns you can visit. Sometimes, a town will provide new world events or minigames after you have helped allies in the area take it over. Not every point of interest will appear on your map, some can only be uncovered by exploring or speaking to wandering NPCs who have a ? over their heads.

Upgrade your Weapons

There are two ways in Assassin's Creed Valhalla in which you can improve your weapons. You can either visit a blacksmiths and exchange ingots to uprade your gear's overall quality or go through your inventory menu where you can use various collectible resources to boost your gear's stats. Each time you upgrade an item at a blacksmith it will unlock more upgrade opportunities from the inventory menu. You will also unlock the chance to equip runes which offer additional boosts to your characters attacks, health, and stealth. Make sure you take advantage of both upgrade routes when you find gear you really like.

Get Gear Bonuses

Avoid the temptation of just equipping the most powerful gear in your inventory. When you equip several items of gear that are a part of a set you will gain additional bonuses, these include attack speed boosts, health buffs, and increased armour strength. More often than not you will find it more beneficial to focus on upgrading gear that is part of a set than breaking the set to equip a single stronger item.

Use your Horse to Travel

When you arrive in England the easiest and fastest way to traverse the mountainous terrain is by using your horse. You can call your mount by tapping the left button on the D-Pad of your controller, and if you hold that button you will automatically mount your horse when it arrives. Horse riding comes in particularly useful when you need to escape or leave an intense combat.

Restore Health During Combat

If you are low on health during combat and out of Rations, you can replenish it by simply running around the area you are fighting in to find berries or other foods that are nearby. Once you have restored your health, any food collected will count toward your Rations meter.

Explore Secret Entrances

Whenever you see an icon for a secret entrance on your map you should always check them out as they will often lead to treasure you can't normally access. This will often happen when your Raven detects something under the ground that you can't reach, when this happens you need to search nearby for a secret entrance.
