How to Start a Raid

In Assassin's Creed Valhalla you will have plenty of opportunities to raid, pillage, and plunder rural England. This How to Start a Raid guide will tell you how to initiate them during the game, how to complete them and also what rewards you can expect to earn from them.

When you first begin playing Assassin's Creed Valhalla you won't be able to start a raid. This feature will only become an option once you reach England and have established a settlement. This means you will first need to complete the prologue section in Norway. When you have accomplished this you will be tasked with upgrading your settlement which will involve collecting raw materials and supplies, and the best way in which to get them is through raids.

To start a raid you must first reach one of the designated markers on the map. You will easily be able to identify them as they are marked by two red axes. Then when your lognship gets close to the raid location you need to press the button prompt to initiate the raid. At this point Eivor will sound the special raid horn and the battle against the local English forces will start. However, if the raid location is inland and you had to reach it by foot you will need to call in a longship using your ability wheel as raids can only be started from your longship.

The only requirement of a raid is that you kill all the enemies in the area. Providing you are taking on a settlement with a similar Power Level to yourself it should not be too difficult with the handful of Viking warriors that are backing you up. Once you have successfully killed all the enemies in the area you need to take a moment to look around to see if thare are any storage containers. The glowing gold dots on your HUD will tell you where they are located. If you find that a storage container is behind a locked door you will have to find the key which can usually be found on an enemy corpse or hidden nearby. Once you have found all the storage containers in the area the raid has been completed successfully and you will be rewarded with a set amount of raw materials and supplies which you can then use to upgrade your settlement. Every time you want to construct a new building, such as a trading post or barracks at your settlement it will cast 30 raw materials and 400 supplies. You will also earn a decent amount of XP as well as an additional set amount of XP for every storage container you opened. XP is important as it allows you to get Skill Points which can then be invested in unlocking new skills.
