Top Ten Greatest Competitive Kalos Pokemon

#1 - Aegislash

Surprise, surprise, but not really so. If you play competitive Pokemon, then you knew this was coming, no ifs, ands, or buts. Aegislash is not just one of the best Pokemon from the Kalos Region, but one of the greatest Pokemon, competitively, ever created. From it's incredible defensive stats in its base from, to its Blade Form, brought on by its ability, with its extremely high offensive capabilities, Aegislash has it all.

Now Aegislash can be run in either two ways, in an offensive way or a more defensive way. The offensive set is what you'd expect when seeing an Aegislash. This Aegislash uses either the Life Orb to further boost its power or Weakness Policy to doubles its Attack after just one hit by a move it's weak against. Whichever item is used, maximum Effort Values in Attack and Hit Points is usually the best way to go. This Aegislash usually is run with Swords Dance to takes its Attack to extreme heights, while King's Shield hurts Physical Attackers and allows Aegislash the chance to switch back to its base form. Iron Head goes perfectly in this set, as well as Shadow Sneak since Aegislash has virtually no speed at all. However, Sacred Sword gives perfect coverage to Iron Head and can substitute Shadow Sneak.

But the defensive set of Aegislash looks entirely different than the one listed above. It begins with a Sassy Nature and the Leftovers, as well as maximum Effort Values in its Hit Points and Special Defense. It focuses around the use of King's Shield and using Toxic to status opponents to death. Pursuit is used to hit retreaters hard, while Gyro Ball gives Aegislash another option, offensively speaking.
