#2 - Talonflame

If you've played competitive Pokemon, odds are you have come across a number of Talonflame in your day, and you probably have even adjusted your team to cover for it. Now, no, Talonflame doesn't have these amazing stats, it doesn't have the sheer power like the Pokemon behind and even ahead of it on this list, but what it has is a fabulous movepool and one of the greatest abilities of all time in Gale Wings.

If you want to run the most successful Talonflame moveset, then you will follow this set down to the very nitty-gritty. It begins with running Jolly Nature and having the Sharp Beak as its items, running maxed-out Effort Values in both Attack and Speed. It is best to switch in against a Pokemon weak to it - watch out for x4 Stealth Rock - as it allows you to set up a Swords Dance to take its Attack to a brand new level. From there, sweep with STAB Flare Blitz and STAB, Priority Brave Bird. You will literally destroy just about everything, outside of Ground and Rock Pokemon of course. Roost is for regaining lost Hit Points, which will happen quite fast with both Brave Bird and Flare Blitz.

Talonflame is scary without a Golem or something similar on your team, but it comes up just short of the title of the best competitive Kalos Pokemon.
