The chests you cannot open are the chests containing each characters special celestial weapons these are the best weapons in the game. In order to be able to open the chests you will need to get the Celestial Mirror. To get the Celestial Mirror first you need to get the Cloudy Mirror. The Cloudy Mirror is obtained at the Remiem temple in the Calm Lands. To get there you will need to get a chocobo from the chocobo trainer in the Calm Lands and go over near the entrance to the Calm Lands from the Macalania Woods go to the right of the entrance near the edge and you will see a chocobo feather on the ground press x near this to jump down to the area below. Take the path to the right to get to the Remiem temple. There is a chocobo race that you can do at the Remiem temple this is where you get the Cloudy Mirror for winning the first time. To do the race if you haven't already done it before first go to the left side of the temple and look at the sphere there, once you have done this go to the right side of the temple and there will be a chocobo you can use for the race when you win the first time you will get the Cloudy Mirror. To change the Cloudy Mirror to the Celestial Mirror you will have to go to the start of the Macalania Woods and you will see a woman and her son standing there, talk to her and she will say she is looking for her husband you will find him in the area where the party goes after escaping from Bevelle after you have talked to him go back and talk to his wife again and she will say her son ran off. Go up the ice path near the save point and you will find her so staring at somthing. Talk to him then go up the small path he was staring up and at the end press x and Tidus will hold up the Cloudy Mirror and it will Change to the Celestial Mirror.
