Ok, so the way you can tell if you've befriended anyone is when you walk by them or ride by them, if they turn their heads to watch you go past. If they do watch you go by, then they're your friend.

There are 6 chapters, each chapter is equal to 1 year, so if you know how many years you've been playing then you'll know which chapter your on.

You can purchase the Goat from Van during the 2nd year. The bad thing about the goat is that after 1 year, it stops giving milk and pretty much becomes useless. And the milk it produces isn't even that good, but if you want to purchase the goat, the 2nd year is when you can :]
