Usually people will take a gift from every catagory. Do this every day. If they don't take the gifts then just give them one a day. When your walking past them and they look at you. . . Then they are your friend
It depends. Marriage-wise, it usually take no more than five gifts (or five days of gifts) to get the first heart event. Otherwise, no more than ten days or until they start looking at you as they pass.
It varies with different people. For example, Ruby is your friend a lot sooner than Nami is.
