HELP WITH MARLIN PLEASE!!!
He has 4 hearts, and I give him stuff everyday, and I have tried proposing a BILLION times!! He just says, "what is this...?"

It depends on what gifts you give him, i think. im not sure. Try giving him stuff you grow on the farm, But if you give him Milk, make sure its A type, or he won't be impressed. msybe just keep giving him stuff. or wait 'til the end of the year . im not sure, im haveing the same problem ..... : [

someone else in the town may also have 4 hearts for you..it happened to me too, i had to wait for him to propose to me at the end of the year! also, just because he has four hearts doesn't mean he'll accept the feather! You have to have had seen all four heart events with him!

i had the same problem. but wen it turned 2 fall i asked him and it worked!! soo ur prob still in summer or spring... just wait til fall[autum]

Make sure you unlocked all the heart events with him!
If you didn't, and you're lazy, wait until the end of the year.
and by the end of the year make sure that no one else likes you more, otherwise the other person will propose to you.
and you can't say no to that, because otherwise the game will be over and all of your hard work along with it.
If you're lazy:
start a new game.
meet marlin and have the first cutscene with him.
DONT MEET ANYONE ELSE.
sell your cow and dont do anything for the whole year.
at the end of the year he'll come knocking at your door and he'll propose to you. hope I helped!!

You have to trigger all heart events with him, along with the final heart event/marrige scene. The one where he talks about his illness. Do this, and you can propose sucessfuly. It doen't matter if smeone else likes you more. But if you didn't get any or some of his heat scenes, you just mave to wait until the end of the year, hoping he will propse.

He will keep saying "what's this?"
You just have to wait for him to propose to you by the beginning of the 2nd year.

Spring Day 1 year 2 someone will propose to you. I got Marlin! ;) I just kept on giving him food everyday! OH and if you wanna get RICH put the controller in the 3rd player spot press Z on your controller then pull the controller back in the player 1 spot then you will have tons of stuff you can sell to van it works!!! I did it
