I just recentley bought Pokemon: blue and I asked the dude that was behind the counter and he said you could link with like gold and blue.

Yes this is true. What you do is go to a PokeCenter in Gold and use the Time Machine. This will allow you to trade with Blue/Red/Yellow versions. Then go to a PokeCenter in Blue and go to the cable club. It will allow you to trade. The only drawback is that you can't trade new pokemon or old pokemon with new moves over. But yes, you can trade with Gold..

Yes you can.

On your gold you have to go to the time capsule in the pokemon centre next to the normal trade part to trade with red or blue.

On blue just go to the trade part of the pokemon centre.

Yes, the person with gold has to go to the time machine lady(third one) and blue guy has to just talk to the lady.
