Hold off that Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt reference, the Andromedons are one of those enemy units that are very interesting as they are very difficult to deal with. You get a two-fold enemy unit when fighting off an Andromedon as it is both a robotic and an organic unit.

The Organic Part

Andromedon is a mechanized unit controlled by an alien from the inside. It has three attacks (1) plasma gun, (2) melee attack (not much powerful than the lesser Muton, but still formidable), and (3) plasma grenade.

During this phase, you can easily mind-control it, and destroy everything on its path. An Andromedon has high armor, high health, and high damage. Andromedons are perfect candidates for mind-control however you have to remember that when it dies, you cannot control the mechanized part of it, effectively consuming your one “charge” of mind-control.

The Mech Part

You can still control the Andromedon with hacking, so there it is! You got to be careful with this one, even if you are controlling it because it lives a trail of plasma fluid that has similar effects to acid.

When a robotic unit, the Andromedon has only one attack: Melee.

The only way to fight an Andromedon effectively is to control them. It is very hard to fight them, and Rangers will have a hard time blowing through its large pool of armor and health. And if there is an ADVENT Shieldbearer in its squad (which is always the case, as the Shieldbearers take up the ADVENT Trooper later in the game), you are going to get annihilated. You can always set up heavy armaments towards its way, but as stated earlier, this is inefficient. Remember, there are other alien units as its squad member, including maybe an Archon or two.

Verdict:

OK
Not Useful
