What happens if you capture a monster when you have to slay it?

I think the quest will simply continue. Since the captured and tranquilized monster in a "slay the monster" quest is merely asleep you would probably have to continue and kill it. I'm basing this on the experience of failing a "capture the monster quest" when accidentally killing it. I hope this helps a little

If you capture a monster instead of slaying it the quest is completed. Although you can't carve the monster you often tend to receive better awards.

If you mean the quest says HUNT, then you can kill or capture, capture does seem to give better rewards. But if there is a quest that says specifically to kill, which I have not yet seen, then you would probably fail it.

It doesnt mater when you capture a monster in a kill mission you win anyway
